you can get 720p out of it but not full 1080 as it doesnt have the pixels to be able to display it. 1080 your looking at the 24" range

thanx for the speedy reply

would i need a HD => to DVI cable for this ?
from the back of my xbox

sorry just one last thing , which is better quality 720p or 720i

i dont understand which is the better quality
the interlace or the progressive

and what does a standerd TV run it at

thanx paul

after posting that and digging deeper , i found this

An HDTV is capable of displaying resolution of 480i, 480p, 720i, 480p, 720i, 720p, 1080i, 1080p. The "i" means that the signal is displayed on the screen "interlaced" and the "p" means that it is displayed by progressive scan. Progressive scan generally produces a higher quality picture. The highest quality signal a conventional TV offers is 480i, but this is the lowest quality signal for an HDTV. Potential buyers looking for the best picture should accept no less that 720p.

thanx anyway

Correct, except the is no 720i, only 720p.

HDTV resolutions: 720p, 1080i, 1080p

That 19" monitor has a resoltuion of 1440 x 900, so is capable of displaying 720p (1280 x 720), but not capable of 1080i/p (1920 x 1080). However 1080p would be pointless on a 19" screen, but 720p will look great!

Quick question here, my HDTV does a maximum of 1440x900 on VGA, but can do 1920x1080 on other devices, any particular reason for this? It can display 1920x1080 on Windows, but it can't fit it all on the screen, bit odd. Same thing for 1650x1050 (Or whatever that res is)

yeah i been playing Gears Of War and the game looks really suck ass on my widescreen normal telly

a friend of mine had a huge samsung HDTV and it looked amazing on it
so i fancied my chance and bought a 19"

http://www.lge.com/products/model/detail/l194wt_1_6.jhtml

and i plan to buy the JoyTec VGA cables with optical sound lead

very limtied for space and i dont have a spare £500 so im gonna stick to
playing my xbox next to my pc and link it to my suround sound

:)

Excellent monitor, mine recently arrived as well, it's for nothing but my 360, and looks awesome.

But one thing, do your self a favour and buy the official MS VGA lead.

which one.the belinea or the Lg mon ?

Silly question, but what sort of speaker set up do you need to use the audio cables on the Xbox VGA cable? I've got a 19" monitor (not widescreen though :( but the cab;es won't go into my PC speakers?

Did you not get the phono to 3.5mm adapter with it?

You should have.

well..

I got the monitor 2 hours ago and so far its not that impressive
its running in 1280 x 1024 as i cant seem to change it to 1280 x 720

im running an invidia card, and when the lg was connected to the ATI card on my other rig i could run it in 85 hz at 1280 1024 , but i cant on my nvidia card :/

havent tried xbox yet as cable is on its way in the post

So you haven't tried the Xbox yet? I hope you got the official MS cable its the best even though its a few quid more expensive.

coz 1440 x 900 is only 60hz :(

and yeah my official xbox cable is on its way should be here monday

and another thing thats happening.

If i start an avi mpg or wma, the video goes so dark you cant see it, but when i open the invidia control panel the correct brightness and colors come back ?

Hz is pretty much irrelevant with a TFT, and DVI only supports 60Hz single link on most resolutions, standards etc, 1028x1024 SXGA will do 85hz, but why would you want to run it at that.

What mode is your monitor running?

Put it in normal and hit auto adjust.

Oh and run it at 1440x900.

To be honest it just sounds like it's not set up properly or your NVidia drivers are messed up.
