I have a wireless router for my laptop but I wired my pc to it for a faster connection to the NAS drive I have connected to the router and also because I just found it a better connection.

Now, I just got an xbox360 (again.. 3rd one, keep buying then selling then buying then selling) and I was wondering, seeing as its sat next to my pc, and my pc has a spare network port, can I just wire the 360 to the pc and bridge the connection to my router?

Bear in mind I use terms like bridge with no idea what they actually mean so any guide will need to be in 3 or 4 letter words :p

Reason I'm not wiring it straight to the router is I had to buy about £15 worth of flat ethernet cable to hide it under the carpet and a) there's no room left and b) for that price I may as well buy the network adapter because lifting the carpet was a pain in the ass.

Other option is I'd be happy to get a switch or access point or whatever and stick that on the end of the cable from the router and cable both the 360 and the pc into that, always handy to have a few extra ports for when I build other PCs or want faster access to the NAS via the laptop.

Basically, what are my options and sorry for rambling :p

Yes it would work with the two ports bridged - but Windows' bridging can be pretty dodgy, and you'd (obviously) need the PC on for the Xbox to see the outside world.
Your other option's what you suggested - hook a switch to the end of the cable then both the PC and Xbox connect to the switch. Slightly more expensive.

care to point me at anything in the fabulous ocuk catalogie that would be an effective and cheapish switch?
