My friend is looking into purchasing an Xbox 360 and today we've been looking at the Xbox 360 Elites with 120gig HD.

Now he has a few questions regarding the different packs:

Obviously each one has a different Hard drive, which clearly means more space. But what we would like to know is whether it is a big requirement to go for the bigger HD or settle for say the 20 or 60gig versions which are much cheaper.

I know this question will prob just seem stupid and common sense, but can people list the reasons for and against having a small/big hard drive attached to the Xbox. What benefits will there be for example with the 120gig apart from more space :P

He will be rarely using the Internet on the Xbox therefore downloadable content shouldn't be of too much a concern for him.

Also what things should we be looking for that is contained within the pack? Do different Xbox have different specs for example does one lack a HDMI output?

If you have any advice on what to do, what not to do when purchasing an Xbox 360 please list it here as I do not want to advise him on something only to regret it a few days later and disappoint him.

Games

Currently at my house sits his PS2 console and I'm going to list a few of the games he has mentioned and asked whether there is a comparative game on the Xbox 360.

I'd like you to list those games as normally the consoles come with a very poor selection of games and therefore he will need to buy a few to get the ball rolling.

The games he loves:

God Of War
Ratchet and Clank
Fifa
Metal Gear Solid 2

Which games on the Xbox 360 could be categorised in the same styles as the above?

Thanks in Advance

If he won't be connected to the net then Hard drive space isn't an issue. Then again it is quite useful to download the games to hard drive so the machine runs quieter.

After all you can easily pick up an elite for £179 or less at the minute, so for an extra £20 you may as well get the 120. If he wants to save that £20 go for the 60.

I have to ask, but why is he looking at buying a 360 when all the games he has listed are on PS3?

Aye good question Joe, he will eventually get a PS3 solely for God of war when it arrives in 2010 I think, however he likes the look of a few Xbox 360 only games and wants to try out something new.

Do you know of any games that he might enjoy from the list above?

The first game I would recommend to any new 360 owner is Crackdown - one of my favourite games for it's pick up and play, arcadey, blam blam violence filled sandbox games :)

Loosley (very for some) in gameplay wise I would say Ninja Gaiden 2/ DMC4 for God of war, Ratchet maybe Banjo kazooie on XBLA. Fifa is well on every system so not a problem and MGS2 closest thing i can think of is Splinter Cell, there is a new one out before end of march 2010 (close as i can get).
