ho-kay, so i bought some uniross 2700MaH AA rechargable batteries due to a) how sub-par the play and charge kits supposedly are and b) the quick charge unit + 2 black batteries is a fair bit of $$$...

If I buy just a charger cable will these aftermarket AA batteries get charged properly or can you simply not do it like that?

The battery pack charges via the small pads in the middle of the battery pack. You can easily re-wire it to charge the batteries but I wouldn't recommend it.

Indeed they charge via those little metal pats on the back, these are not present on the AA battery pack.

Try and get a battery pack second hand, I only paid about £17 for a wireless controller, battery pack and play and charge kit on the MM, I've had it for a few years now and it's still going strong.

Also get a charging dock from the bay, makes charging the pad easy as pie.

I use a Nyko Charge Base, brilliant bit of kit. No more mucking around, 2 replacement batteries and the mains charging station just switches itself off when finished.

I thought the play and charge cable connected at the top of the controller?

is that slot for something else then?

that niko dock looks good, although they don't do one in black is the venom stuff any good as they do an elite-matching version?
