XBOX 360 Controller for PC

Gonna tap into this thread rather than creating a new one...

I've already got a few quid's worth of HMV and Virgin Megastores vouchers (from last Xmas lol) and I have a feeling I may get some more this year, as I'm typically very difficult to buy presents for! ;)

I'm thinking of getting myself a 360 controller, as I like to play driving games on the PC, but I haven't had space since I moved last year to set up the steering wheel/pedals, so haven't really played them recently :(

Firstly, how long is the USB cable on the wired controller, and secondly, what would I need to buy in order to use a wireless controller on the PC?

If you want wireless on the pc, you need the usb adaptor...

I think I paid about £12 from a well known retailer ;)

I can't vouch for it tho; I haven't even got it out of the jiffy bag yet!

My wired controller's cable is well over 2m long.

Enjoy!

Cable is 9 feet (3 meters)

..and too use a wireless controller all you need is one fo these http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/hardware/x/xbox360wirelessgamingreceiver/

They're sold seperately but I think you can buy a wireless Windows pc bundle controller, which is just the 360 wireless controller and the receiver, might be cheaper together, not sure.

I got the wireless controller and the receiver for 32 quid, no problems at all and works with everything I've tried so far.

best PC game pad Ive ever used. So much better than the cheap tacky PS2 pad ripoffs. The triggers are picked up by Windows as axis', so are fully analogue.

Second hand game shops or the bay are nice places to pick up unwanted wired controllers, although I only paid about £18 for mine from an competitor.

Just thought I'd add my 2p worth and say that this is the best gaming pad I've ever used on the PC.

I'm running Vista so I needed a new gamepad as the PS2 pad I previously had wasn't compatible. It cost me £16 and I have to say it's pure joy.

Installation took around 2 minutes (3 if you cound the updated software). I tried Colin McRae's Dirt and there was no config needed. Straight into a race and the pad felt comfortable, well made and responsive. Can't express how good it is!
