XBOX 360 controller for Windows- USB compatible

Does anyone who has a "windows" wireless 360 pad find that it doesn't get recognised by a xbox 360?

Tried to give my brother a game of fifa on his 360 and wouldn't pick it up.

I go between PC and 360 just fine with my wireless controller.

I'm guessing you probably haven't synced the controller to the 360.

Just bear in mind that the controller only remembers the last device it was synced to. That means if you get it synced to your 360, play against your bro etc, and then want to go back to the PC you will have to sync it back to the PC.

If you get the windows wireless xbox 360 controller you get the reciever with it. I also have the xbox 360 console with a wireless controller, and i purchased the xbox 360 controller play and charge kit. You can plug the charge kit into a usb port on your pc, you can use it wired or wireless, there is a red and green light to indicate charge, and it saves on the standard batteries which tend to discharge too quick. I use it on windows 7 x64 and it works very well. To re-sync it with the console i just plug in the charger kit to the 360 console.

That 'exec 360controller' command in Portal doesn't seem to do much. I was expecting it to change the button graphics to match the controller and have the portal cursor in the centre of the screen. Neither or which occurs.

did it come with the drivers (or did windows download them)? if so, any GFWL will just pick it up and work. if it doesnt support gamepads then you will need an app to map the controller to keys.

I'd say steer clear of anything but the Microsoft versions of the x360 pad. I bought a madcatz one and the left trigger stopped working after it fell off the sofa. Where as the MS pad has been kicked and dropped and works fine. The madcatz stuff seems to have poor construction which is a shame because there are aspects of it that I found preferable to the standard pad.

I think madcatz is a devision of saitek as well which makes the poor construction surprising. My saitek cyborg is still fine mechanically not that I've tried it out recently due to its ancient connections.

workss nicely in half life 2 .... but doesnt look liek theres any aoftware i can see that lets me create profiles for it for other games..

ive tried running the driver disc that comes with it .. and ive also just let windows update teh driver for me via windows 7 ...

only thing i can find that lets me do custom profile is a progam called pinnacle game profiler ... which costs money :(
