Does anyone know how to stop my Xbox 360 from powering up when I turn my wireless controller on?

I have the wireless adapter to use it with my PC but when I turn the power on to use it with me pc the xbox turns on too.
I couldnt find the answer on google
Any help would be appreciated.

You'll probably have to switch the Xbox 360 off.

It may be easier to get a second controller - one for the PC and for the 360. Otherwise, you'll have to sync each time you want to play on the other.

Read yr xbox 360 manual on how to unpair a controller from the x360, if its not paired, it will not power the x360 on when you start the controller up.

Edit: ignore, thought u had two controllers. Would be an absolute pig to pair / unpair everytime with just one.

Sorry about the confusion. Got it to work by installing latest software from the microsoft site. I was foolish and thought the supplied cd might work. Even though the software that came with it when it checked for updates said it was the latest one.

I must say now its working its nice controller to use with the pc. I am on XP but am going to install vista 64 soon but it should work there too.

Hi

Sorry to revive this thread but I'm thinking of getting XBOX 360 Wireless Controller for my PC but I suppose you can't get it to work straight from a box? Do I need a wireless adapter or something?
