Xbox 360 controllers

Looking at getting an Xbox 360 controller for use with my PC but I've noticed there's a specific version labelled as for Windows on sale in some places.

What's the difference? I thought the standard controller was just USB and worked fine with Windows already?

it comes with a driver disc iirc, but you don't need it, so they're exactly the same.

I bought an xbox360 pad & it does say on the package that they are compatible with windows vista. Don't know if it's new versions only as a friend has had problems with one in the past, but mine works brilliantly on dead space & vista does recognise in control panel.
