My Xbox 360 has just started crashing on games it don't really play them for longer then a minute before crashing and making a horrible screeching sound :( Any suggestions? I wanna send my xbox to microsoft to be repaired but I cannot find the receipt for it any suggestions on whats the problem and if I can send it to them its still under the guaranteed?

Thanks JoeBoi

oh no. Sounds like exactly the same as I have started experiencing. Just got graw 2, never had any issues before. Is it a single screech, screen locks with blue dots, but no red lights at front??

I had the same problem with my first, would be fine for about five minutes the screech and lock up, looked like a sound and graphics card death to me.

No red lights, just the normal.

Is the 360 hooked up directly to the mains?

When it crashes what's the heat like on the back?

All I can suggest is you find the recept and return the console, before it's too late.

Sounds to me like its defo on its way out, mine did this after 14months, and a few days later packed in altogether. Luckily i had extended the warranty.
Id get it replaced ASAP.

Problem is I cannot find my receipt for it gonna have to hunt for it I paid for half of it on my credit card I got it from woolworths paid bout 40 quid or so on my card and paid for the rest of it in cash. Is there anyway of sending the 360 back to microsoft without a receipt?

Also is it Microsoft you have to send it back to or the place where you purcashed it from?

Thanks JoeBoi

You can send it back to microsoft. If it's less than a year old there will be no questions asked. Slightly older and you might have to convince them but they should sort it out. People seem to prefer replacing them with the shop it was buoght from because you tend to get a new console whereas MS will repair if possible.

I was 6 weeks out of warranty and hadn't extended the ms warranty. They wouldn't do anything except charge 85 quid and give 3 months warranty on the fix.

decided to go for a new core, and put all my premium bits on to make it up to a decent spec. Might get old one repaired for media server, seen a scottish comapny that is a lot cheaper than ms and gives 6 months warranty.
