Xbox 360 Elite Question

Reading a few reviews online, I am highly convinced to buy an Xbox 360 Elite when it arrives later this year (I don't own an Xbox 360, but have the HD-DVD add on) due to the extra bonuses that come with it, such as HDMI support, the massive 120gb Hard Drive and the black colour, as well as games of course. But what I am concerned about is whether the Xbox 360 Elite supports HDMI in 1080i mode. My HDTV (Phillips 32PF5 32" LCD TV) only supports 480p, 576p, 720p and 1080i. All the reviews I have read only mention 1080p, but nothing about 1080i. Will I be able to play games or watch HD-DVDs in 1080i on my TV with an Xbox 360 Elite via the bundled HDMI lead?

The normal 360 supports all those res's so i don't see why the elite wouldn't aswel, if it was only 1080p not many people would buy it as i'm sure more people have 720p/1080i sets than 1080p sets
 
The only difference resolution-wise between the Elite and the Premium is the digital scaler. It will allow 1080p over HDMI (completely digital) whereas up til now you could only get 1080p with analogue connectivity.
 
Don't see why people can't afford a 1080P set, the Sony Bravia 40w2000 is down to £1k on the net now :cool:

Is there any point in egtting the Elite for visual performance if you're TV doesn't support 1080p?

I probably could at a stretch, but trying to convince the misses that we need to spend an extra grand just to go from 1080i to 1080p would be like trying to climb everest in just underpants - not gonna happen!

I didn't say spare.. merely pointing out that £1k is half of what the TV was originally sold for, and considered one of the best 1080P sets around ;)

you actually said that you can't see why people couldn't afford a 1080p set at £1k. I was merelt pointing out the reason for not being able to afford it is possibly because they dont have a spare £1k.

if this is not what you meant then maybe you should pick your words more carefully ;)
