just turned on my xbox 360 after not using it for a few months and got the error message "E 67" and a red light. i turned the xbox off and tried again. same thing happened

i then disconnected the hard drive and reconnected it, all was fine.

should i be worried that my xbox is on its way out?

The console is fine but E67 means your hardrive is either dead or dying... if it has done it once more than likely it will do it again, HDD still in warranty? If so just get it replaced.

could it of been a simple connection error? and when i disconnected and reconnected it it fixed it self.

I ordered my xbox 360 end of august last year so i presume it is still in warrenty

This is the definaition of E67

E67: Hard Drive Error... It could be a problem with the Hard Drive itself or a problem with the internal connection to the hard drive, Try removing the hard drive and playing without it

So possibly a loose connection and by removing it the connection has remade... its still under warranty. Try taking it back out and see if by jiggling it you can get the error code back up. If so get it replaced if not just see how it goes.

Could it just be an accumulation of dust if you haven't used it in a few months thereby affecting the contact between the hard drive and connection. May explain why its working fine after you took it out and put it back in as it may have wiped any dust off the connection.

when i removed it i liked blew over the hard drive connection and the xbox connection, just to remove any dust that was there. i guess that could have been it, my house is pretty dusty at times.
