So I connected my WD Passport Drive to my 360 but it doesn't get detected? Is this something to do with the file system?

Its NTFS which should be supported I would have thought.

Thanks. Having to download software to actually format it to FAT32. So outdated.

Playing 1080p videos will be worth it.

Since I can't put files above 4GB on an FAT32 drive, is there anything else which works? What is HSF+ ?

How do you format the drive HSF+ and will it be supported by Vista afterwards?

edit: Transmac or Mac drive software needed apparently. Too much effort. Just going to split the mp4 files.

Also been trying this mate. What model is your harddrive? Does it require a power adapter? If yes then it probably won't work, I think only things like Flash drives or low power HDD's like the WD Passport essentials will work. I have a Passport essential, what software did you use to format to FAT32? Can you have a space bigger than 32GB in FAT32? Cheers. Edit - Crap, re-read your first post about your passport. Same here. Hmm, you can always stream data off your PC, that's what I do, I'd be happy to help you if you needed it.

Okay so I have got it to work.

My mistake when I formatted it to FAT32, I was not making it a primary partition. I had formatted it as a logical partition as that was the default option when using Partition Magic. Enjoying HD video now.

The 4GB size limit remains, but it is really easy and quick to split WMV-HD and MP4 files, so I'm not bothered. Using HSF+ and relevant reading software seams more of a hassle, and so I didn't do that.

Hope this helps Macky.
