xbox 360 external hd

Yes and yes. You can also strip down the old style xbox hard drive and then fir the drive into your console.

I tried this, limit is 30gb... You can use USB flash too.. Bare in mind the game sizes too if your thinking of installing to Hdd...

If you connect a drive bigger than 16Gb does it still work? I suspect it only shows you 16Gb. Also where does it store the files i.e does it create it's own folder or just store them in the root?

it will allow you to create a single 16gb partition, you can connect another device to gain another 16gb, however that is the max i.e. 2 x 16gb usb drives.
if you use a bigger than 16gb drive it will wipe the whole drive and allocate 16gb. and if i remember right i formatted the other partitions and i believe it was usable in windows/mac etc

Thanks for that - I'm glad I checked before I plugged in my main external drive.

Looke like I'll have to get a cheapo 16Gb stick.

How about flashing and installing your own hard drive? Will that get you banned from Xbox live? Not sure whether to do that or go with a 16GB stick.
