Xbox 360 game recommendation

Having moved house last friday I now find myself with a couple of weeks off work with no tele or internet for another week or so. For the last couple of years I've neglected my Xbox due to working top much and being too busy. I thought to give me something to do in the evenings I might pick up a few older second hand games to have a play with.

So long as they aren't too recently released to u can get 3 for 20 pound on the high street, so I'm looking for some recommendations on what to get. I'm open minded when it comes to games. The most recent ones that I have are gta5, battlefield 3, and the gears of war games. After having a little look I considered getting ssx and dead island (the latter more for the missus) but then I'm unsure on what else to get. I considered maybe mortal kombat komplete edition, or maybe dirt 3. Are there any gems that I may have missed in recent years that anyone could recommend?

Thanks folks :)

Would you have the dead rising games over dead island? Thanks mate :)

Definitely. Dead Rising games are pretty funny with all the different weapon combos you make. Dead Island never really did much for me. I found the checkpoint save system a bit annoying (on PC, would have preferred being able to save anywhere with F5) and ultimately it just became a game of kick every zombie and walk backwards :p

Ill go for dead rising over dead island than. Thanks folks, modern warfare 3, not sure why I haven't noticed that myself, I enjoyed the first two but never bothered after that. Is the single player game decent or is it more focused towards the online multiplayer?

Dead rising was my favourite game on x360 (though I only ever bought about 15, none in the past 3 years)

Worth a word of warning; it looks a little silly, but it's actually a properly hardcore game. I've recommended to a couple of casual gamers who really struggled to "get it".

Single player is pretty decent, I enjoyed it anyway. Chugging through it again on Veteran tho.

Online is great too, loads of people still play it...including myself :)

MW3 story is pretty good if you enjoy action films and can get over the not-so-realistic nature of some of it :p

Oh most definitely.

Don't get me wrong, as others have touched on, it's not a casual game and can be brutal at first playthrough (due to the way you rank up) and increase skills/health. There is also the save system/control scheme which takes a little getting used too (was improved in 2).

Some of the psychopath encounters are a little on the hard side on the first playthrough as well, but it's a game that shines on a second playthrough and has loads of replayability.

If you got those three games and you can persevere with it, you're good for several hours of playing and a lot of enjoyment at the hilarious weapons. The series is one of my all time favourites.

The Batman games are great, Arkham Asulym being my favourite.

Red Dead Redemption has an epic single player story, multiplayer is completely broken however.

some good games mentioned although i can`t agree with the MW3.
i could be here all day listing games LOL so heres a little gem that kinda went under the radar THE SABOTEUR ;)
