Anyone using this service, buying their games via Xbox Live?

What has your experience been with the service and would you recommend it?

So far I haven't bought any retail games this way, only XBLA titles, the main reason being, for full retail releases, I like to be able to get them second hand and being able to sell them on once I am done or bored with them.

However, the simplicity and immediacy of delivery of the titles seems appealing.

I don't know why anyone would want to use it, new games don't get added for quite some time plus they are always more expensive than buying them physically, which seems unforgiveable.

XBLA has always been digital delivery, so I wouldn't class them with the "games on demand" selection.

Bought a few older games for £14.99 its ok simple/quick to download but only the gamertag you buy it with can ever use them so its locked to your account forever. You can either buy recent games for £10 or slightly less until stocks run out or buy @ £14.99 on Games On Demand & not need the DVD in the drive.

Halor Reach @ £49.99 is a joke as are many of the other older games @ £19.99 but they do have some reasonable games @ £14.99.

Unfortunately the pricing of digital downloads is still miles off where it should be, which must have something to do with physical retailers having a big influence over MS/Sony/Valve etc, because there's not other explanation I can think of.

Actually I reckon it's got more to do with the fact that there's really very little actual cost/risk involved in providing games for download, other than bandwidth. If they sell a few hundred or thousand copies at a crazy price, that's more than they'd have got for them as normal retail copies, and it hasn't cost them anything in manufacturing, distribution etc. Easy money.

Depends on the game to be fair.
I say this, I only know of one game that is cheaper on Games on Demand but it's made me keen to use it :p

Tales of Vesperia - £19.99 on Games on Demand or £60+ for a boxed version, assuming you can find one!

I was desperate to play Mass Effect again when I got ME2 so I bought that. £14.99 is well worth it for Mass Effect. :D

Echoing what other people have said - there's no way i'd get games this way as they cost far too much.
A brand new game to download should be £25 or something. It shouldn't cost more than it does in shops.
If publishers/distributors really want to stop second hand game sales they should start offering downloadable games at a vastly reduced price.

I've used it before to buy games, service is fast but too expensive as others have said. I got RE5 off there only because it isn't linked to your account. I was able to download it on another Xbox, delete my account and was still able to play it logged in to another account or not being logged in at all. Haven't found any other games like that though.

Only time I used it was when you could get Fable2 free. It took so long to download it effectively ruined the 'impulse buy' thing you would associate with games on demand. Oh yeah and wayyyy over priced as mentioned by everyone.

I've bought two (older games), Psychonauts and Beyond Good and Evil HD. I was pleased with the price and the performance of both. I don't think I'd buy a current game for the reasons already mentioned.
