OK,

Why do we put up with this?

I mean 2 examples Full Auto, Frame rate is terrible, at points it really slows down quite badly.

NFS:MW ok its ea games i know, but the frame rate on that was also a mickey take.

Whats going on? i had my house mate in looking at my screen takin the pee he is a sony fan boy, but the thing is i found my self in agreement with him.

This is a next gen console and yet frame rate issues are hitting it.

NFS:MW u could argue was a launch title an pushed outta the door, full auto i expected more from.

So both rr6 not my style of game, but no slowdown,
and full auto my style of game but with added slow down are now going back to the shops.

The console has just come out, games aren't fully optimised for the system yet. It will be exactly the same for the PS3 I bet you any money there will be shockingly bad made games that'll run pants. NFS:MW is a cross platform game and is one of the more notable poorly made and efficient games, not played Full Auto, but heard that's pretty bad too.

Framerate issues also depend on the player, some people don't notice or care, some people do notice a lot and are annoyed. I'd be annoyed also.

I don't think there's an excuse for games to run at 30fps these days and putting it down to it being a new console doesn't wash. Release titles on the PS2 (Ridge Racer V) and Dreamcast (Tokyo Extreme Racer) from like seven years ago managed a solid 60fps.. and apparently even some of the xbox360's 30fps games have framerate fluctuations?!? Not good enough IMO.

Unfortunately you seemed to have picked the 2 games that suffer from it the worst.

The vast majority of 360 games dont have any such problems.

It's a programming issue, not the console. Unfortunately there are developers out there busting a gut to get a game on the 360, and the code isn't optimised or they are throwing the wrong information at the consoles hardware processors, for example particle effects been sent to the GPU rather than the CPU.

It'll change, and as DaveyD said, I bet the PS3 will suffer the same for a few of it's release games

I think we can all agree that it isn't the console itself to blame but lazy and unoptimised programming. Let's hope it is indeed just on the early release titles and doesn't become a trend.

Agreed, some game frame rates aside....The games in question look good, they just don't run good all the time.....Fifa is another guilty game, actual gameplay is good......The replays just move horribly

I just can't wait for a year or so down the road to see people use the 360 to it's full power

Yeah i noticed a slow down on Condemned when you had to escape from getting shot by the police, there was only about 3 hobos on screen, yet it seemed less than 20fps, still as said its new, and it will improve. :)

just to clear up i thought the OP was talking about framerates dropping down to an really noticable level, not the 30 fps issue, not that i mind tbh, if need for speed was 30fps then i didnt notice, but if the hardware can cope i see no reason for no 60 fps

Kameo is a classic example of top coding. The battle between x thousands of orcs and elves was immense and not a single slowdown was experienced. It is just lazy coding, and the fact that devs are still getting used to a very new hardware set. We'll be seeing quite a few sloppy games for a good part of 2006 until things settle down.

no games are using all 3 cores yet, i think Burnout Revenge will be the 1st to do so.

You would have thought MS would make sure this wouldn't happen and make the devolopers insure smooth framerates, its no excuse really seeing that perticular games that have this issue are PC ports atm

Quoted for truth. That shows the power of the 360, doubt you'd get that on a PC for a while.

I've noticed slow downs on Full Auto and to be honest i think i'm gonna try change the game tomorrow, hasn't really been to my liking. Really enjoyed condemed though...

I think the mistake also being made is that people thinking that all the games have to be good. Your sony mate is i'm sorry to say a *****. He will idly buy the next ps3 regardless of how it performs or game titles or restrictions on software.

Myself I can swop and choose which ever console or pc i choose to use.

So two or three titles in 10 have slowdown issues, its not like 10 out of 10 ps2 games are good is it? So why should all 360 games been expected to be great.

I never brought a ps 1 or 2 at launch because I thought the games where pants, it wasnt til later when great stuff started appearing I got one.

Some people have no patience. Your mate would pick fault no matter how great the games were because he's a victim of marketing, some sad loyalty to a company like a badge of honour.

Sad.
