xbox 360 getting 3 red lights and out of warranty?

as title, i just got the 3 red lights tonight on my xbox and the worst bit is my warranty has expired.

what should i do? do i contact ms about a repair or go to a third party company to get it repaired? or should i attempt to fix the console myself, i've heard about a lot of people doing that, is it easy enough or what?

RROD is covered by a 3 year warranty.

The RROD is covered, as mentioned above, by a three year warranty and as the 360 is not even three years old yet, you will be covered. Phone Microsoft, the whole process is quite painless.

i checked the warranty status on the ms site and it said i was out of warranty. i believe the console may have been a replacement from ms for another 360, not sure entirely, bought the console of a friend about 5 months back

if it's had 3 red lights, it's covered. end of.

x-clamp if it is definitely out of warrenty, easy to do if you have common sense.

EDIT] Thats if youve EVER opened it aswell, as it will not be covered if you have

ok i'll ring ms up tomorrow just to confirm my warranty has definately expired if so i will look into repairing it myself.

3rrod = auto 3 years

console is still less than 3 years old

Even if your xbox was bought on launch night it will still be under 3 red rings warrenty until december this year, and ive also heard of them not being too bothered if its been opened or not when it comes to fixing the 3 rrod

on fleabay you can buy a kit to repair it (parts + instructions) for about £3 shipped. i'm giving it a go on my bust x360 (spare i had chipped for LAN gaming). I'll let you know how i get along.

Oh dear lord. If you have three red lights, you are covered by a three year warranty. As no one has a three year old console yet as it hasn't been out that long, EVERYONE is covered.

god i'm sorry i was mis-informed, someone told me that if you get a replacement console it only has the 1 year warranty, clearly that was a lie.
