Hi,
Is the 360 xbox hd drive run at 1080p also does it upscale Standard Definition material to up to 1080i via a HDMI
Cheers

The xbox 360 will upscale DVDs to 1080p, 720p or 1080i. You just need to use the HDMI or VGA connection.

The HD-DVD addon will play HD-DVD movies upto 1080p through VGA or HDMI, and upto 1080i or 720p through component.

I'd probably place the xbox the other side of the house though due to the noise.
Getting Old Fast....

As for the op's question, as has been said before so far there hasn't been a region locked hd-dvd (To my knowledge) so your fine their.

With no game disc in the Xbox's drive, and only an HD movie in the HD-DVD drive, the 360 while not silent, is perfectly quiet enough to watch a movie with.
So yes, he is actually incorrect.

Fair enough.
Pretty good that, as I was worried about buying a HD drive as i thought it may have been just as loud as the DVD one. This my just tempt me to buy one... If I can find it cheaper than £99.

Nope, its only got the standard drive in it, the hd-dvd drive connects through usb

So all these people having a go at the PS3 for being £425... If I was to buy an Elite and the HD drive that would be hmmmm about £400 odd quid... weird aint it!!.. :D

Problem is I want both and the wife won't let me!! :(

3 main issues with the HD drive addon.

  • It handles motion very poorly
  • Sound output is crippled
  • the unit itself is silent, but the 360 is not, mine is terrible

This is why I sold my HD drive within a month of buying it.

This I didn't know... You can plug the HD DVD player into your PC?!

What do you use to play the HD DVDs?
