Okay I found this at the back of a cupboard, so simple question can I use it for anything and don't laugh I spent a fortune on reds at the time

Is that really question?? You can play HD-DVDs on it...what else would you expect? It works on PC as a HD-DVD/DVD drive.

Not even sure how big the library is, would be fairly small.

thanks I have around 150+ discs, and only bought this to back up my library at the time, thinking about it I now realise it was a stupid question to ask , guess what I was looking for was anything worth while stripping it down

So long as it works, you can keep it as an external optical drive (non-blu-ray of course), but it can be useful for certain laptops and other systems where it is unsuitable or preferable to not have an optical drive. After all, a lot of older games on DVD media aren't all on digital platforms yet. So can be useful in those cases. But as for stripping it down, I doubt there's anything worthwhile in doing that.
