Ok so.. I have the 'original' / 'normal' 360 (no HDMI out port) so need to use the component HD AV cable for HD gaming on the plasma.

I also use a VGA cable (Genuine MS) for use on my 19" TFT. I was under the impression that the VGA cable only gives up to 720p definition?

My questions;

  1. Does the vga cable support 1080i?
  2. Can you get the normal AV output lead that has a HDMI connector on the tv/monitor end? (For when I get a new monitor with HDMI ports)
  3. Can anyone recommend extension leads for the audio on the vga lead please?

Gracias :D

VGA does 1080p as long as the TV it goes in to supports it. Also VGA upscales DVD's whereas component doesn't i think.

Since when does the lead do the upscaling ???
I always thought it was the hardware itself the did the upscaling, so would upscale all dvd's but only output to the highest compatibly resolution.
Can't see how VGA would limit upscaling.

Is it that VGA does 1080i but not TRUE 1080 (1080p) ?

It can only upscale via VGA or HDMI to full 1080P. Dunno why it doesn't over component, other people here could probably tell you.
