Are they worth the cost? Just got myself a HD TV (1080p) and yes I can notice difference in quality from the games on the new tv. I'm currently using the normal scart that came with the console, will I notice as big a jump in picture quality as I did by going from a CRT tv to a HD tv if I also switched from the scart lead to an HDMI lead?

Also if the HDMI cable IS worth it, must you go for the official xbox one as they are about 35 quid, would a similar, cheaper cable do the business? Or just stick with scart..?

Cheers :D

A £5 HDMI lead will do have a look online, as long as its at a HDMI standard you will be fine.

£35 - LOL.

Get a £5 one from your local catalogue shop or blow £10 on something with better made connectors.

scart's the big chunky block that you plug your AV cables into and then into the tv right? that's what i'm using.

Yes it is, surely you must have been able to tell the difference between HDMI and that!? Did you set the 360 to output at a HD resolution???

In response the OP, just get the most reasonably priced one you can find, a decent one can be had for £5 - £10.

HDMI looks sharper to me than Component.
That's the big catch 22 situation. There are people split between HDMI and the smoother aliased image delivered via Component/VGA. I prefer the latter tbh and find HDMI as you said - too sharp.

I'm kind of forced to use HDMI as i get overscan with component on my tv that i can't rectify, it's only 5% but I'm fussy :(

On my cheapy 32" monitor the HDMI cable is defintiely a better picture than component.

However you should be able to tell the difference between SCART and HDMI easily, if you are currently connected using SCART you are not running in High Definition.

You will notice a HUGE difference going from SD to HD. Spend £10 on an HDMI cable.
