Hi there, please can you help me by telling me where I can enable HD output for HDMI in the xbox 360 settings on the dashboard.

I worked out how to do it on the PS3 but not on the xbox 360, theres nothing that says "output to HDMI" or anything that says "HD" on it.

Thanks in advance:confused:;)

In the 'My Xbox' section go alllll the way to the right, system settings is hidden away there. Within that there's a section to set screen resolution.

Which resolutions are HD?

I dont think my xbox has an HDMI port, can I buy an adapter or something or do I have to sell my xbox and buy an elite?

Thanks in advance.

Unplug any other AV connectors from the xbox, plug in the HDMI, witch on console, job done.

If you wish to further tweak your scaling go to console settings and change the resolution there.

Providing the 360 has a HDMI socket then it should output automatically.Although I think it doesn't work on some TV's.I had a cheapo HD tv when I first got my 360 and I couldn't use HDMI with it.Might have something to do with HDCP.
If it doesn't have HDMI then you can buy the official MS HDMI lead.Costs loads though!

To clarify my xbox 360 doesnt have an HDMI port, so does that mean I have to buy this special lead from microsoft? any chance of name for this special lead or a link if a link is aloud?

Thanks in advance:confused:;)

The official microsoft HDMI cable doesn't work on older consoles, you need a HDMI port, The only thing that the official cable has that the £5 cables don't is an adapter for getting the sound through surround sound etc

Give up on HDMI, your 360 doesn't support it at all.

What are you connecting it with? Component (the 5 phono cables) or VGA? Either is fine and will allow for HD output. If you are using composite (3 phono cables) that is a SD cable and will never allow for HD so you need to switch to the 5 cables.

I'll assume you're using component (5 Phono cables into the back of your tele) and that your television is 720p in order to explain how to set it up in HD:

1. Make sure the switch on the 360 end (the chunky end) of your coomponent cable is switched to 'HD'

2. Boot your xbox, go into the 'My Xbox' tab and scroll all the way to the right.

3. Select System Settings

4. Select Console Settings

5. Select Display

6. Select HDTV Settings

7. Select 720p (or 1080p if your television supports it)

Done!
