Is this just a rumour because it was meant to be released in to the wild a month ago but there's still no sign of it.

I'm not sure how to properly check tbh, people have said it is indicated by what you get in the box (i.e. if an HDMI cable is included?) and some people say its to do tith the psu voltage?

does anyone actually know a good solid way of checking?

PSU wattage and batch number.

I've been wondering this too, apparently you can check just by looking at the manufacture date and if it's manufactured after a certain time it's got the jasper chip.
