Recently Got Myself an Xbox 360 with 10 Games...

GHOST RECON 3: ADVANCED WARFIGHTER
NBA 2K6
DEAD OR ALIVE 4
FIFA 06 ROAD TO FIFA WORLD CUP
PROJECT GOTHAM RACING 3
CALL OF DUTY 2
PERFECT DARK ZERO LTD COLLECTERS EDITION
BATTLEFIELD 2
EIDER SCROLLS IV OBLIVION
TOP SPIN 2

Got myself up and running on Xbox Live Last Night, am connecting wireless through a Netgear Router & have a 2MB Broadband Connection with Nildram.

Noticed while playing FIFA 06 on Live that sometimes the game runs nice and smoth and other times it can be really slugish and jerky depending on the opponent I'm playing against....

Would it be better if I had my xbox 360 wired to the router? or is it just because some opponents have a slower broadband connection or live further away?

Whats the best setup for Live?

First of all visit our GRAW thread Below (but sometimes above)

Secondly your wireless network should not be causing the issue. It is most likely distance and opponents connection.

Just make sure you are not using any filesharing programs or anything that uploads to the intenet, as this often causes lag for some reason, heavy downloading will also.

Thanks for the info, haven't played GRAW yet might give it a go & get some practice

I made sure there were no other computers online at the time, so I guess it's just down to your opponents setup & will try and stick to UK rooms

Just learn the basic controls and you will be fine.

OcUK Graw sessions are more about having a laugh than actually being good at the games.

Lag really needn't be an issue on the 360. Add some friends from the same country as you (e.g. OCuK) and you can have 99% lag free gaming. Have a lag free is often important. E.g. if you ever get into DOA4 (best game on the 360 by miles imo) then you'll notice lag makes you frames each move you pull off, putting you at a massive disadvantage.

I think the exception to the above rule is Prey, that totally sucked for online even - even when playing someone who lives less than 4 miles away from me.

I'm useless at run while trying to shoot at the same time using a 360 controller, I was so much more in control & a lot more acurate at shooting when playing these types of games on the PC using a mouse, shame there isn't a usb mouse & keyboard for the 360 for these types of games

I didn't really have any problems with Prey when I was playing with JUST McDaniel, but it's probably the worst coded online game of all the ones I've played on the Xbox360. The best would probably be Battlefield 2, so much happening on screen at once without much/any slowdown.
