Xbox 360 Media Extender Problems

I'm trying to set up my 360 as a media extender, following the instructions on xbox.com/pcsetup, but Media Centre says it cannot find an extender. I've tried google for help, but have found no solution.
I'm using Vista Home Premium if it's a help.

when you get the code on the 360 for exstender use make sure you select the "windows media center" bit under it then on the pc get it to find the extender (the 360), i had the same prob untill then

I'm leaving the 360 on the screen it tells you to leave it on when installing, and media centre still isn't picking it up.

Make sure the 360 and PC are on the same subnet.

Are you using wireless or ethernet? I never managed to get mine to work over wireless despite lots of research. In the end, I gave up and used a wired connection.

At the moment it's on a wired connection through a Linksys router. It's recognized under Network, but it won't connect to it through the media centre.
