Seems MS have a riot on their hands over at Xbox.com. The new messanger feature will not allow people under 16 (or whatever the age is) to use messenger service and get this message:

"Windows Live Messenger is not available for child accounts."

seems abit daft seeing these same people can use it on their PC.

How long before MS fixes with a update fix, my son (15) won't be to happy when he comes home, lol, i expect many "kevin" grunts

I'm confused (I don't have the update yet).

I have a Live gold account which is linked to a Hotmail account I used for MSN. So I assume this will work fine. Where does the age thing come into it? By "Child" account are you sure they do not mean secondary accounts (ie not the main one) on your 360?

Can't you get round this by changing the parental controls on the hotmail account attched to the Live profile?

So they can Voice chat, or even Video chat but msm text is a big no-no?

Not that I think its a bad thing some nights I'd be very happy if no-one under 21 could get on Xbox Live at all.

The xbox messenger is a bit of a gimmick i feel anyway, without a keyboard its honestly a no-pointer. Lets face it, if your on xbox live you have the Internet, if you have the Internet you have a PC, if you have a PC you have a keyboard and the ability to use msn..

My friend (14) is having this problem too. I'm 15 and not having this problem, but i cant remember if i used my dads DOB instead, guess i must have then lol

I'm having this problem and I'm 18  When I signed up to Live I had to enter my Mum's details because I was 17 but now I'm 18 why doesn't it let me on  Anybody know where to delete the parental thing and make it my own?

you cannot, loads of people moaning about it, thats why i posted this orginally. If you signed up as a child using windows Live ID (thats what the 360 uses to store info) either your own or under a parents there is no options to change the parentl control and it doesn't update when your reach adult age either and they have known this was an issue for the last year. The only solution at present is to completey deleate your account so you would loose your xbox live sub and gamertag, everything, which no-one is going to do are they, lol
