Hey, bought the 360 yesterday and i hooked it up to the net. I'm with Virgin Media btw. the connection failed to live, and it mentioned the MTU limit (hopefully remembered that right). Anyone else on Virgin media/Any ISP had this error before?

Thanks.

Hey, read the support link but it doesn't help much. Would i need to ring virgin media and ask for the MTU to be set to a min of 1364?

I really wouldnt imagine its their fault, I would try a different device.

different device? I'm on virgin cable so it just goes through the box. If i plugged in the router would it possibly change the MTU values?

what router do you have?

My MTU size can be changed within my Netgear WPN824 router.

I'm on Virgin too by the way.

It will be a setting within your router,

When my router was being an ass D-link told me to set my MTU to 1200, as soon as i did my xbox live died :(

Meant i had to buy a new router, gutted

I connect the ethernet from my 360 to my PC and set my PC to share the internet with my 360 because I have a PC wirless dongle and the price of the 360 one is a joke. It works great.

Wow, just had helluva trouble setting up the router as NTL's reg page kept coming up and not working.

Gunna give XBL a go now. Do i have to register anything on the PC or can it all be done on the xbox?

My router has DHCP capabilities, so I didn't have to add the Xbox as a device. It picked up the MAC Address and assigned it an IP.

I did how ever add the ports which it requires onto my router, so they were open for that IP :)
