XBOX 360 'net connection

Just a quick question.

If I was proposing having a 360 in the same room as my PC, to connect to XBOX live, would it be necessary to unplug the modem cable from the PC to place in the USB on the '360, or is there some form of splitter that's available to undertake this task?

erm Pass!,

The Broadband connection is in the same room as the PC so just want the cheapest option viable.

Ok, I'm kinda lost!

I've just looked at my PC, and in fact I have a wire from my modem which goes into my PC - not in the USB port, but as a larger "phone-line type connection" [good terminology huh!].

Does this amend any suggestions?

If I use an Ethernet switch, does the PC have to be on simultaneously with the XB, or can they run independently?
