Xbox 360 + netbook= laptop replacement?

Hi all :)

Been looking to replace my laptop as its knacked and crashes all the time, been thinking of what i actually use my laptop for and its mainly browsing the internet, email, watching xvid/mkv's and some gaming.

Now i cant justify spending £600-700 for a laptop which can play the odd game so i'm thinking of getting a 360 and a netbook. I can then use the the netbook for internet browsing and email etc and the 360 as a media player and gaming. Been thinking of the Acer One 8GB linux edition for the netbook and a 360 premium.

Just a few questions about the 360 which im not sure on:
Can the 360 connect to external hdd? or usb memory sticks?
Can it play divx/Xvid/HD wmv's ?
Does the 360 have optical out?

I agree stick in a bigger HDD, or wait for the 160 GBs PS3 out the end of the month, and install Linux and you have a pretty functional Pc replacement. Ok it wont be as fast but things such as email, word processing etc is all very do-able, you can even connect printers to print of docs/photos etc.
If you want 360 and a lappy then that will be fine and im sure it will do all you need though.

i dont mean to hijack this thread but does the ps3 have a net browser as standard? or do you have to install linux?
also if i wanted to install linux to get all the above features is it easy? (affect warranty etc?)

It has a so-so browser. I think it uses Flash 7 rather than Flash 9 though so you are stuck with some websites not working.
 
I had thought of getting a ps3 but i dunno just fancy an 360,
I can also use the netbook to surf the web while the missus hijacks the TV to watch all her soaps.

So what are the must have accessories for the 360?
Games wise I fancy forza2, crackdown and COD4 any others must haves?
 
The only accessory you might think about is the play 'n' charge kit which is a rechargeable battery for the wireless controller. Everything else you need is in the box!

Halo 3, GTA4, Gears of war and more that other people will prob. list ;)
