XBox 360 - New or Old Model?

Still can't make up my mind - too much conflicting stuff I've been reading! Mainly about the new slim version having problems as well.

Anyway, another question about the 360. Can you play dvds directly to the tv or would I have to play them through media centre extender?

You can play them direct just as a standard dvd player..

I know, makes you realise how small they were. My second 360 is a 2008, Falcon with a 120GB HDD. My first model from 2007 (met with a rrod) was only 20GB. Just with game installs and bigger XBLA content now I think it's so useful to have all that space.
 
I already have my S pre-ordered at GAME but im gonna get down to sainsburys on the 16th before work to see if the £140 units are there as even if i end up with 2 im sure i can sell one on for a profit. I ordered the slim for a few reasons, My elite just RROD on me and is back with Mcsoft, Noise, Kinect port and more usb ports in the rear as i have it setup at my pc and things hanging out the front dont look good.

Also probably not the right thread but if you have a fast usb flash drive install MW2 too it as the way MW2 works it swaps crappy textures for quality textures and the speed and access time of the crappy hard drives sucks. Give it and try and let me know as i havent had a chance to try this yet .....RROD :'(
 
Had my Elite for a few months now, played red dead which i loved can't get into Forza 3 or Gears of war 2 and no touched it since finishing red dead so might sell it before the prices crash.
