What do you mean by older games? Old Xbox 360 games or Xbox games?
X Box 360 Old games.
My grandson had an old X box given to him for which we have quite a few games. We bought him a new X Box 360 for Xmas only to find that the original games are incompatible. An external hard drive has been mentioned but that could be Chinese to me, I'm afraid.

Some, but not all, Xbox games will simply work on the 360. If they do not, they never will.
I think I remember something about the 360 needing a hard drive (not an external, just the standard xbox 360 hard drive).

The 360 needs a HDD, and either a net connection to get the compatibility patches, or you need to go here:

And update it one of the other ways.
