XBOX 360 or PS3?

lowrider - my ps3 (60gb) is no quieter than a 360 (A current one not the release ones) when 15mins into a game and fans are spun up.

That isn't normal, there are a small minority of PS3's that seems to step-up the fan speed to the wrong setting for some reason, Sony are usually reluctant at changing these systems but I know a few people that have managed to get theirs changed becuase of this problem, My PS3 is sat right in front of a radiator, sometimes on for days folding, playing games, streaming etc and it's still practically silent, the fans do step up but from the other side of the room the console is inaudible.

ps3 since you know people who have it tbh. Geting a 360 would be silly since you can't play online with them.

I have an uber-rig, an XBOX 360, and a PS3 60GB, all with a 1080p TV.

I have to say I use my PC the most, mainly because most of the games released come out on XBOX360 and PC at the same time coz its so easy to port.

But very few titles are PS3 specific, so I always buy for XBOX360 or PC.

Ive tried playing games accross both the PS3 and the XBOX and I have to say graphics on the XBOX is notibly better.

I prefer the online services on XBOX, you can download movies and communicate with friends loads easier, and thats about to get even better with the new dashboard.

But PS3 you can fold@home on, and it has cool features like a web browser, and the ability to install linux on the console, and plays blu-rays. Its also backwards compatible with PS1 and PS2 games.

But I think im getting to the stage now where I use my PS3 so little its going to get sold soon...

XBOX and PC are the way forward.

My cousins all have PS3's and play online so I would like to join them, but I'm pretty sure the '360 has the bigger online community?

Playing with family/friends is always going to be a better experience than playing with randoms, so it's a no brainer really.

Thanks.

If youre going to do a lot of online play its best to go with the console that your friends and relatives have. Ideally though, it would have been better to get a 360 as its easier to play with friends and family on that system. The problem with the PS3 is that some games dont let you invite friends, meaning you can only play random people (not sure if thats a common problem though)

Having both systems, i would say go with what your friends and family have, the ps3, as for noise issues and comfortablity questions, the xbox 360 is far louder than my ps3, but since thats mainly the disc drive and will be able to install onto the hd soon noise would be as much of an issue, i personally find the ps3 contoller far more comfortably than the xbox as prolonged use of the xbox starts to pain my thumb ( old injure).

However, since all your friends/family play the PS3 online, i would probably go with that.

+1. I got a PS3 today, despite being torn, as all my mates have them as well. Seemed stupid to go for a 360 (plus I can't stand the noise that the 360 emits, but the new interface should solve that soon so that wasn't too big a consideration.)

I have both and as a games console the 360 is far superior, the only big drawbacks are the noise and the shocking build quality - especially when your standard warrenty runs out and you get a non RROD issue.

Hello there :)

My old xbox is on the way out and my son is interested in a new Xbox :)> Anything new coming out for christmas that i should be aware of. I know to look for the 175watt one which is the newer models

Looking at the xbox elite with the 120gig hard drive and hdmi connector to make cables a bit less messy. Thanks in advance for any help and advice :)
