Xbox 360 Over HDMI sound problem.

Hi,
I got an Xbox 360 for christmas and using it on a HD tv with a HDMI cable, the sound seems to just cut out after making a sort of popping sound.
I've tried 3 different hdmi cables that i have and both the hdmi ports on my tv and the problem still happens. All is fine using the component cable that came with the console, anyone know what the problem might be with the HDMI?

ive heard of this, it related to the new dashboard! have a search round the net, it only happens when the new dashboard has been installed!

think i read pull the hard drive out then put it back in. didnt try it but i had same issue and just went back to optical output.
