Hiya, need a bit of advice, i dont come in here normally!!

I am trying to play PGR4 on a 360, but i dont want to use the default button mappings in the game, and i cannot for the life of me work out how to change them. I have googled, and can find nothing?!

Why is it so hard? Can anyone give me some advice?

I want the accellerate and brake on the front buttons, and dont want to use the analogue pad for steering, just the normal direction pad!

Any ideas?

AFAIK you have to use the joystick for steering, which is a good thing really as the d-pad is absolute garbage on Xbox360 (and the sticks are excellent).

I don't have my copy anymore, so I can't check the manual sadly, but I would guess that if you can it will be in Options > Controller.

:? How do u drive a normal car?

PGR needs analogue steering to allow you to controls drifts

The controls are so much better as they are that it's not even worth giving the option to change them. Trigger + Stick has been the standard for years now.

Looking at the available options it seems that there isn't a setting for custom controls, and the presets only allow for digital control on either the steering OR gas/brake - not both at the same time.

Bit daft, and quite surprising, but they probably didn't figure people would be weird enough to want to do it. PGR isn't really meant to be played with digital controls.

I would like the controls to be like PGR 3 where you can map accelerate/brake to the right stick.
Cant stand this fascination with sticking the throttle and brakes on the triggers.

With my feet and a steering-wheel!

I have managed for years to control drifts with D-pad and button control.

I dont see why i should have to change, its crazy there is no re-map option! Surely thats a massive backwards step? Progessive controls are fine for pedals/steering wheel, but on A joypad, i want buttons.

Sigh, i guess im just getting old.

There is no way digital control is better than analogue controls in terms of driving a car. You dont yank the steering wheel in a real car to full lock do you.

Its a computer game I just want to control it the way i have always done.
Why do you have a problem with this? I am not saying it better, i just prefer it.

Actually, it's a massive forward step in removing it. It's like using VHS when Blu-Ray is about :p. You have to stop it at some point.

My nan still uses VHS, she likes it, is comfortable using it, and does not want to re-learn. Why should she change?

Anyway guys, the thread has served its purpose. I asked for advice on changing the controls, it seems you cant.

Thanks :)

Nonsense.

It hasn't been the 'standard' at all, it's merely been there.

So why did PGR3 have digital control options?

And tapping the D-Pad doesn't 'yank' the steering either.

Removing options is never a forward step, customisation to the individual is the only step worth taking.

I also prefer digital buttons, I'm faster than with analogue, by far. Anyone who plays PGR3 with me will tell you my digital prowess is nothing to be scoffed at.
