XBox 360 Problem?

Hi guys, just bought an XBox 360 Premium and was wondering if there is a problem. Basically the ring of light only lights up in one of the corners. (According to the manual if its not solid green while in operation then something is wrong internally with the console).

I have a 42" Plasma HD Ready TV and with the HDAV cable connected to the Component on the TV I can only display 480p, 720p or 1080i mess up the picture, does it look like I got a dodgy XBox or what?

nope all is good, when one quadrant is lit is shows which controller is connected, should be the same quadrant on the controller as well. So top left would be controller 1, top right is controller 2 etc.

lol, when I first got my Xbox it took me ages to figure out why only one quad on the ring was lighting up

Thanks for the quick replies. Any ideas about the HDTV problem? The default setting was 480P so when I went into console settings and HDTV I selected 720p or 1080i but both of them mess up almost as if the TV won't support them but it should do, its got a max pixel resolution of 1024 x 1024 and has the HD Ready Sticker on the TV, bit miffed at this.

The TV Model is HITACHI 42PD6600

Any ideas?

not sure as i have a sd tv and the core version, but i'm sure someone else here mentioned that there is a switch on the component cable to switch from tv to hd, so try that.

Yea I have tried that switch, TV Mode & HDTV, with HDTV I can get 480p but the other settings mess up which is a shame as I would like 720p or 1080i considering the TV is capable of these settings.

If it has a max resolution of 1024 x 1024 it wont be able to do either 720P or 1080i as 720P is 1280 x 720.

*edit* On reading a little bit about the screen, it appears that it should scale an image to approximate 720P. I'll I can suggest is that you recheck the cable connection and have a look through the settings to see if there is anything that could effect the signal from the 360.

*edit2* Try changing to 50Hz in the 360 dash if you can. If its at 50Hz try 60Hz although im sure i read that the TV only supports 50Hz.
