Just got my 360 , but not hooked it to the net yet so have a question. I made a offline profile which obvisouly can be whatever I want , how ever I want to use the 1 month trial and I know for live you need a unique gamertag. Now my question is this , are the profile and gamertag the same thing for a online profile?, so I would need unique profile name aswell , or is it gamertag is linked to the profile , so tag has to be unique , but profile name is what ever I want? (like Steam , so steam name unique , but online name whatever I want).


Secondly , the headset I've read you can use any headset as long as it has a 2.5mm plug , how ever the controller only has a single socket :confused: , I wanted to use my pc headset , but that has two plugs one for mic and one for sound. Is it not possible to use that? , must it be one where it has a single ear piece and mic and one plug?.

Before I got networked with the 360, my profile name was "Paul", obviously that was taken, so it let me change it to something else and it kept my achievments and saves etc.

Ok , now been playing about abit and got another question.

Profiles , is it one save for each game per profile. As I've got both perfect dark zero and project gotham and both just save to whatever is loaded , no chance to pick a slot or anything like that. If that is the case , then are unlocks usable by all or just the profile that got it. So say for example I unlock cars on project gotham on my profile , then have a 2 player race against my brother who has not unlocked them , will they be restricted from him?.

Same with live , if I unlock something on the profile that is offline or just silver , will the gold profile not be able to use it online?.

Seem to be getting conflicting awnsers bout this :(. This profile business seems all fine if your the only one playing , but just annoying if more than one use the box :(.

What was wrong with the old way of doing things :(.
 
do u have a prem pack?? It **** save everything under the profile u have created by default and will load it etc.. until u make another one and then can choose i believe?

As far as the cars go im not sure about playing 2 player at home with a m8 but online u can use any car u want. Except in the online career mode where u have to use one u have in ya garage and u need certain cars for diff races.

All ya acheivements **** be under the same profile tho for now.
 
It's a core but it has saved the profile on the card and thats what I'm using at the mo and yes it does give you a option to save to another profile if there is one. But that still does not awnser if it's one save per gamer profile and if unlocks are shared between then etc , or if there is a way to have more than one save per game on each profile.
 
Depends on the game for the amount of saves.

Madden lets you save more than one Franchise if I recall correctly. Condemned definitely has the option to save a few times since you can load the game at each checkpoint/point where you saved.

As for the Live question, I'm pretty sure you have to unlock the car (with the xbox live gold profile) to be able to use it online.
