Hi,

Just a couple of questions. Bought mine at the weekend.

I have a wireless router on my PC I can connect to, but do I need to shell out £60 to get the wireless network adapter to connect to Live, or is there an alternative/cheaper option available?

Also, got a demo disc when trying to play a demo it says I need to change from PAL-50 to PAL-60, but when I check the settings it's already on PAL-60, is this a known problem?

Finally, how much power consumption does this hot headed beast use, when I opened it I was like  at the brick of a power supply?

Cheers

Network Adapter: Unfortunately, though expensive, it's the best option.
You can also use a wireless bridge, they're sold on OcUK, but for their price, I'd say try getting hold of a second hand official wireless adapter.

For the PAL60 thing, are you running in HD? If so, connect up with the standard SCART/composite connection and change the PAL setting in the menu there. Then stick your HD lead back in and it should work.

It is indeed a bit of a power hog, probably one of the, if not the highest consuming console, though I think the PS3 might have something to say about that :p

If your PC is within reach of a network cable from your 360 and you have a spare network port you could use a bridged connection.

I used this for months until my pc died and I swapped to the official adaptor. It did cause a few problems in a couple of games though but this could be something to do with my setup, firewall settings or 101 other things.

Well if you don't mind having a wired 360 setup and your router has ethernet ports on it then you could just use the supplied network lead (assuming its a premium).

Thats what I do.

It translates to around $20 a year in power costs (if you play 2hrs a day for a year)

Thanks, I was a bit concerned since the electricity went up by 400 units this time, just from me using an a/c unit this summer.

As for connecting to the router, unfortunately it's downstairs so using the ethernet cable is not an option really.

You would have thought MS would include a built in WiFi NIC or something, or allow you to use a dongle. Well £60 it is.
