Anybody here know of a decent place for Xbox 360 repairs?

Have one needing a possible replacement laser in the DVD drive (not reading discs) and another with RROD.

Local to Canterbury.

If you have the right tools and comfortable with taking stuff apart, its very easy to do yourself. The older the xbox model, the easier it is. I've done a few myself with the help of Youtube.

I fixed a RROD myself, and as malachi said it's pretty easy. Not changed the DVD drive though, but I would be wary about that, as some people purposefully changed the drive themselves so they could flash the console to play pirated games, and MS have banned people from Live for doing it. That one would be best done in a shop if you can find one local to you.

Thanks for the replies.

I've not got the tools and I'm not great at fixing things (especially electronics) :(.

I had a look around online and managed to find a place in the city that will sort out both problems for £60. Not too bad as they wanted £80 at first.

RROD is easy enough to fix with the correct tools to get the xbox open and bits to replace on the heatsink. The drive not reading discs I've fixed by cleaning the lens and the tiny belt at the front of the drive dead easy to do.

60 each? Remember Microsoft will do it for 60 (or 70) and keeps the warranty intact.

£60 for both (total).

No warranty left on either box and both have had the tamper seals damaged (by brother being stupid) anyway.
