Well swapped my 2nd Xbox 360 today at my local video game shop after it would randomly freeze from time to time. After my last console fell outside of the warranty period I was not taking any chances. My last one which I purchased in March 2007 had a manufactured date of 09-2007, so maybe part of the first batch which proved to be faulty?

Anyway the new one which is a core system has a manufactured date of 02-2007? Does this mean that I should enjoy a fault free console or were they still prone to overheating/dvd scratching disc function?

Will this 2007 model be different to the 09-2006 one which has again proved unreliable any different internals etc?

Cheers :)

Not that I'm aware of. Microsoft has only recently began to install modified heatsinkes as standard on all systems. Cooler-running, more efficient, and more reliable processors are also in the pipeline.

Thats incredible how you managed to buy a console 6 months before it was even manufactured  :p
