Hey guys is there any way to get my router to show as "open" on the 360 connection test without listing my router specs etc? Most games are fine, but any games that use 'trueSkill' seem to have a lot trouble getting me into a game?!

Log in to your router's web interface and use whatever its port forwarding UI is to forward ports 88 (UDP) 3074 (UDP) and 3074 (TCP) to the Xbox's IP address.

The problem is that other people try to connect to your Xbox on those ports and your router bounces the connections because it doesn't know what to do with them.

Is it this screen i need to add them too:

That's not better, just a sledgehammer approach :p

It is that page. Put in and enable 3 entries and put the given port number (e.g. 88) in all four of the port range boxes for each entry.

Sledgehammer? Possibly. Twice as easy? Definitely.

You don't need to "protect" the 360, it can't be hacked (using the word loosely) in the same way a PC can, so there is no need to hide it.

Which box do i put them in wush? Also the drop down "TCP" box lets me select "UDP"!

Nice idea memphis if my 360 didn't change i.p every time it connects to live :(

Your 360 needs to have a fixed IP for either method (red circles). You should be able to set that up elsewhere in the web interface.

I managed to get it set to "open" and ive had a good couple of games, but it is still taking 30 secs - 2+ mins to find a game! And what does "Remote parties restarted the match making process" mean?

Mine loops the same error in Multiplayer as well, before finding a match. I am just putting down the flaky matchmaking due to most people doing single player game atm tbh. (Most people on my list are just playing Single/co-op mode whenever I look).

Still having problem with bloody Live! My NAT has been open for the last few days and it's been great, but now it wont let me join games when my friends invite me to a private or public match?! Is this a bug with GOW2 cos i really can not think what else i can do if im open and all!

Im constantly reading problems about people connecting their xbox 360's to xbox live and the internet - i have a cheapo no name router and have managed to connect both my sons 360's to the internet/xbox live with no problems at all. Plugged both 360's into the router and off they went with no problems what so ever - why are so many people having problems ?

Have you actually checked the NAT status on both machines? You'll probably find they have a status of Strict, which will prevent them connecting to some online games.
