XBOX 360 Router Problems?!

Hi guys,
I picked up Forza 3 yesterday and am having some trouble connecting online. My NAT type is STRICT and I'm using an old style BT Home Hub. I've tried port forwarding ports such as 80, 88, 53 etc etc according to tutorials but to no avail. The xbox appears on the router's settings, so I've tried forwarding to it by name, and also by IP (by setting the 360's IP to static and copying it across to the route settings). I have no idea why it still doesn't work and it's driving me crazy!

I've also tried putting the 360 in the DMZ, but the only device alowed there is my laptop :(.

Any help would be much appreicated. Does the NAT settings depend implicitly on the router? If so I'm seriously considering getting another device, could someone recommend me a good router with OPEN NAT settings?

Thanks all,
Al

Yeh my mate has a lot of problems with his nat type as well using that router and there doesn't seem to be that much he can do about it i'm afraid. Personally for the 360 the best router i've used is the wireless II box from o2, i've got 2 360s and basically have to do nothing to get open nats on both, i had a lot of problems with my old netgear dg834g getting open nat although my connection was great even at low snr.

Thanks I'll give it a look. Looks like a new router is the best way to go!
Can anyone else spec me a router they've had good experiences with?

WRT54GL + Tomato & DG834GT have both worked fine for me, although I could never make the gt pass anything other than moderate nat while the gl simply worked (and it's upnp can be set to secure).

Yeh the netgears upnp was always very temperamental with me and even with port forwarding/dmz it was still problematic. The connection though as i say was flawless, held sync at very low noise margins, but i'd completely avoid netgear if you're using a 360 if i were you. Take a look at this link anyways, its a list of compatible xbox live routers:

-just select 'compatible routers' from the scroll down box, hope this helps :)
