Ok so my girlfriends is going to buy her kid a new xbox 360 for Christmas but has a few concerns, shes asking my advice but i haven't been into console gaming since the SNES (best console ever!) so im of limited help.

She wants to get him the Xbox 360s 250gb, 2 pads, kinect and a couple of games (lucky lil git tbh). She also wants to get rechargeable batteries or some other wireless/rechargeable solution for the pads but she read somewhere that the Pads on the new Xbox 360s are different from the earlier xbox 360 pads and rechargers ect wont fit/work. Is this true as i cant see it mentioned and also can anyone recommend a good recharger solution for the 2 pads? A friend of mine has a Drop 'n Charge thingy he says he got of play.com which does his 360 and Wii pads, i think its neat and she loves the idea of it but when we have looked we have only found them for Wii or Xbox and since her kid already has a Wii something like that would be ace so any advice on where to get it would be great.

Also with Drop 'n Charge do you need special batteries ect for the pads themselves? Any advice or clarification in these areas would be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions of good fun games that are suitable for a 9 year old boy would also be welcome :), my taste in games are a little complex for him (Deep strategy and RPGs mostly) so im not much help there. Street Fighter 4 and Batman Arkham Asylum seem pretty cool to me so those are my first thoughts.

I've had a 360 since launch and have only ever used a Uniross charger. It fits in nicely with all the other AA battery needs having kids entails.

Just give him some nuts and a tangerine in a sock instead. I'm sure that's what all these kids are in to at this special time of year.

the xbox 360 pads are all the same, the kit you want to keep the controllers going are plug and charge kit provided by microsoft. it can be had for £15 for the cable and the battery.
You can as said use batteries but it means if both sets of batteries go and you didn't buy spares your going to have to stop gaming to let them charge. However there is a quick charge kit which charges the microsoft battery pack in around 2 hours i believe. its called the quick charge kit funnily.

EDIT: how old is he ?

IF the halo Reach Limited Edition Pad is the same then yes they do the ones that came with my halo xbox i just popped my old batterys on them

They are releaseing a new kit with longer lasting batterys in them but they state they are compatable with all pads

Thanks for the reply's, hes 9. I kinda assumed there all the same but she has read something in the Argos book that seems to suggest differently and has us both confused.

I'd get rechargable batteries to be honest I've had one pack fail on me after bout a years use I barely charged them much but the thing is completely dead now. a lot of people suggest just getting batteries and will deffo be something I'm going to have to try now.

Ps that is one lucky kid!
