Xbox 360 self repair

yeah working with an adjustable wrench, probably messed up my chances as the nuts are ripped to shreds now

3 of the scumbags left!
 
When it comes to the heating part, what's the best way to do it?

Also i was thinking of doing some kind of cooling mod with a spare 120mm pc fan, don't mind cutting the 360 up, any recommendations?
 
How hot does the graphics heatsink normally get?

I've done the xclamp fix and the cpu gets very hot with no fan, the gpu though doesn't, so im wondering if it's not seated properly or its just very cool when idle?
 
Not long finished fixing my brothers old xbox 360, did the x clamp trick and it's working brilliantly. I'm happy, got a free xbox!
@Radiation, my gpu cooler gets quite hot within a minute of it being on, cpu cooler not so much but does get hot.
 
X-clamps is a good idea, but before u RROD, after that it might not help, like in my case, i oven baked, x-clamped, u name it, nothing helped, so jasper mobo + x-clamp now, plus.. i drilled loads of holes on top of cpu sink, and removed some metal casing throughout the case for better heat disapation
 
Thought I may as well check here rather than create a new thread. I've applied the xclamp mod but cant get the 360 working. At the moment when I switch it on I get three red lights, the power brick light remains orange and the fans spin for a split second then stop.

Any idea what this means? I was told to loosen the screws to the heatsinks, I did that and still no change

Remove the bolts and re do it you may of warped the board the key is when you feel it start to grip as such stop and do the bolts not going round but diagonal.

I noticed people tend to use artic silver 5 why? mx2 is cheaper and slightly better.
