XBox 360 & Sky Collaboration

There's a few things that people arent considering here :-

If it's not tied to Sky broadband then they have no way of implementing QOS (Quality Of Service) similar to what BTVision uses to ensure an uninterrupted stream. This means that any change in bandwidth or any sudden congestion will mean pauses and rebuffering etc.

BTVision also uses approx 1.5meg stream for VOD so a 1 meg stream will certainly be lower quality - not good for sport.

Dont forget - you'll also get adverts ontop of a sub fee too.

Certainly not as good as it sounds.

I really can't see this failing. I doubt Sky or MS would want to damage their brands that much if there was any possibility of it failing.

Without reading through the whole thread and numerous sources, can someone explain to me exactly how this works and what it is likely to cost?

If it's promising I may buy another 360.

It will deliver Standard Definition to your 360 over your broadband, in some way (streamed). You will also be able to stream certain events. The rest of the details are sketchy as to what it costs and what Sky stuff you may or may not need.

Similar to the BT Vision thing that was proposed 1-2 years ago on the 360 only using Sky TV as backend instead of Freeview/BT Vision.

Hmm... so a decent BB connection would be required.

Would be interesting if they released a Play TV type device like a mini sky+ box so you could recieve Sky through Satellite and record it.

Might not need too, if it is all on demand anyway, you wont need that.

It seems to be that it will just be an xbox version of the skyplayer for PC's. But you will need an XBL gold account and extras.
