Hello.

I got my sisters new xbox 360 slim here and the disk drive don't work.

But I am not sure if it like the older 360s where you had 3 different models benq/liteon/samsung.

When i fixed my other 360 I had all I did was buy a new benq drive and used a Soldering iron to attach the green board that was on the disk drive.

Is this still the same setup with the new slim versions ?

Thanks for any help.

Well this where my sisters other half messed up :(

They got there xbox 360 from bright house and was told by bright house they had no warranty.

So he opened up the xbox thinking he could fix it :(
He then called microsoft and see what they say and what they told him was bright house should not be selling the xbox 360s and he did have a warranty until he opened the xbox lol :(

Not sure what is the truth from him but I will try to fix the xbox for my sis :)

WTF? bright house is more expensive than my credit card

£327 for an Xbox with two ancient games. Hilarious, beggars belief that people fall for this crap.

Anyway, if it's less than 12 months old tell your sister to return it to Bright House. They're a retailer, they're required by law to arrange repair/replacement (replacement is most likely). Even if they try to fob you off to MS, she can tell them that she wants a replacement now from them, especially at those prices. She isn't required to go via MS, the contract is with the retailer.

But he has already opened the xbox 360 :(

I don't think he can do anything now :(

I know bright house is a rip off I got my self today a used 360 20GB with games and vga cable for under £100 :D

Usually I wouldn't advocate it, but in this case I will: That he's opened the console up won't matter, they aren't going to notice.

I doubt the parts are freely available. Almost all 360 S are under warranty, therefore they go back to Microsoft or the retailer.
