If you put it on carpet, air will not be able to pass under the xbox, then it will suck up every bit dust in the area around it.

I know loads of people with 360's just on the floor I don't think its a problem under normal conditions.

It's the same reason why you shouldn't put PC base units on the ground, they clog up with dust.

Rubber gromits under the 360, install games to hard drive, if warranty has expired then replace the fans with a better set... or put the 360 in another room and run a video cable through the wall

Dust will get in wherever they're situated unless you live in an airtight room.

Any way to get rid of this as I really don't want to have to install each game every time I want to play it due to only having a 20gb HDD atm.

It's not the drive noise that I find the killer (now that I can install), it's the God awful fans that are used.
I can only assume I have Deltas in mine.

Sub-par internal design makes the most of it, but the basic fans are slightly tacky.

I found that buying a Jasper Arcade unit with 512MB flash ram built into it is the best solution. You just transfer your licences across to your HD and away you go. With HD installs the DVD drive is silent and the only fan noise is a slight hum which is very low and from around 5ft away almost totally silent.

Sell your old X360 and the cost is not too bad plus you still have the warranty none of these mods make a lot of difference and on my old X360 I used 2 x 80mm external fans which are silent in winter but in the summer it was not useable or in the winter with the central heating on it would turn off very quickly.

That Lian-Li case is very expensive considering the price of a Jasper Arcade (which also has the 512MB flashram for saves & arcade install plus NXE loads slightly faster from it as well).
