Xbox 360 sound lost

Hi guys,

I connect my 360 to my series 6 37" samsung via HDMI, all was fine, playing forza 3, turn off the console for a while, turn it on after a break and no sound?? Have unplugged and replugged the cable many times and still nothing, tried both TV and console setting, neither have changed in months and are still the same.

I bought the console from the purple shops little brother on the cheap due to it being a refurbished one back from MS.

Now... Where do I stand warranty wise? This was within this year so no older than a year.

Is it worth getting my money back and just buying a elite?

Try/borrow a different HDMI cable?

Depends where you bought it as to how much guarantee/warranty the shop gave. (Some places give 3,6,12 months on 2nd hand/refurbs etc) and let you swap the unit. Worst comes to the worse you can punch in the serial number onto xbox.com and see if it has any warranty left on it and they could fix it for you?

I doubt they would let you trade one that you have knackered for a brand new working elite, no matter how much you pay them.

I tried the Sky HD box's HDMI cable, still no go, well i know they have a 12 month like for like exchange policy.

You really think they won't let me pay the extra on top and get an elite straight away?

They might, I am just saying it is broken in some way, which may hinder your chances. What is more likely, is you tell them the one you got off them broke in 12 months, they swap it "like for like" then you trade that new/working one for an Elite (with some extra money thrown in).

That seems within your rights, they may think that is hassle and let you do a straight swap, just to avoid faffing about on their cash register/receipts/cards etc. So in a roundabout way you will still get what you want.

Will hunt for the receipt tomorrow at work (got it filed away somewhere) and give them a call. Prob end up popping in after work.

Try resetting your Samsung as I had a similar problem where I lost all onboard sound for X360, PS3 & PC then checked a few months later and it had come back on again so the Samsung's definately have a glitch as I have an older set (bought June 2007) and it also sometimes makes a crackling sound when you turn off the HDTV before the console.

Rang the purple shops little brother, said all I have to do is take the base unit in along with power supply and receipt and it will be a instant swap over there and then.

Will be back up n running in no time.
