Xbox 360 sound output advice please (headphone related)

Hi all,

I have a spare 22" monitor that I would occasionally like to use for the 360 when the living room TV is otherwise in use.

Whilst I wait on my VGA cable to arrive, could anyone offer advice on the best/easiest way to get headphone sound from the 360? (The monitor has no speakers)

Would it simply be the case of ordering something like an in-line headphone amplifier and then connecting both red/white connections from the 360 to one end and the headphones to the other? Is it even needed?

I am quite keen on ordering the required bits n bobs as soon as possible, any guidance would be much appreciated.

The best? Astro Mixamp + PC360 headset.

That mixamp looks fantastic, but would be a purchase for down the line I think.

I have found a headphone amp for £15 (FiiO E5). It seems to have positive reviews from that link you posted.

It should do the trick for a little while, hopefully its not too painful on my ears

That would be perfect.

It will sound great, just not provide surround sound
