After purchasing a monitor from one of the members on here, (Which I am very happy with), I would like to change the display from VGA to HDMI for the XBOX. *So this can be free'd up for the PC* However I have a snag, The monitor has inbuilt 5w speakers, I am obvoiusly not using these and want to hook it up to my logitech 5.1 speakers, however this 5.1 does not have optical connection, there is no audio out on the Monitor (Input phono only) is there an easy way or will i need to stick to the XBOX VGA cable.

Does the speakers have RCA connectors?

Its the X-230, the inputs on it are the red/black/green 3.5 mm input only.

I have a xbox slim sound can either go from spdif / optical or HDMI, only i want to sound to the x-230 not the monitor speakers.

As prev stated, monitor does not have audio out which can plug into the x-230.

There is a adapter you can get, but when I search for your speakers it says there 2.1 not 5.1

sorry my bad i have the X-540, dont know where i got that last model from.

I ve seen adpaters only that convert the TOSLINK to analogue, they seem around £30. Think thats the only way...

Think I`ll probably stick with the VGA if it means this. Luckily monitor also has DVI, just had to get a convertor for the VGA on the laptop.

Dont think theres any other way.

If it's 5.1 it'll be the X-530. You won't be able to get proper 5.1 though, but to get sound through all the speakers you'd need something like this:

NO HOTLINKING, NAUGHTY! Z.

The speakers have a mode call Matrix which emulates the 5.1, at the moment its hooked up only with the black output (On storeo).

When you use this matrix mode it doesnt sound too bad.

Dont know if its true 5.1, although that device above looks interesting thank you.
