xbox 360 steering wheel, well i am thinking of getting one of these, some places it comes with a copy of pgr3 is this a different version of the 8 month old copy i already own? will mine have the feedback on the wheel?
what do people think of the wheel does it make the game easier to play or more like real driving?
and what games will the wheel also work with?

thanks

You get a copy of pgr which has a patch on it to enable force feedback.
The wheel makes it feel like real driving you feel every curb and bump on the road.
It works with tdu but without ffb they are bringing out a patch for this.
Also works with nfs carbon.
It will also work with forsa2 and gtr when they come out.

PGR3 was patched online

You get an OEM version of the game that includes the patch (incase someone doesnt use online) This is free so i suppose you could exchange/trade your original version.

Been god to hear from yu owners after the initial learning curve how you feel about the wheel and how yur times compare to joypad times.

The wheel will be used to better effect on Forza 2 were aparently even the different road bumps/surfaces will be felt as of course the understeer/oversteer.

Should be fantastic with this...

I got one for Xmas and couldn't get on with it, the force feedback was good and gave a really good feel for the game but it just didnt feel the same, I could never get the drift right, I'd always over correct or under correct. I'm sure it's something you'd get used to after a while but it's not something I'd use often so would be wasted unless it was totally awesome.

Mine came with PGR3 in a paper sleeve, I didnt try the original game to see if that worked.

I think the above points out a problem that PGR3 has.

In order for a wheel to be better than a PAD and not just from a FUN factor the wheel has to give you better feedback and a way of responding not only faster but more accurately once of course the controls are mastered.

Reports thus far put PGR3 down to being fun with good FFB effects but if anything doesnot give any feel fr the car in a better way than the PAD does.

Forza 2 has been designed from the ground up to use this wheel so it should be awesome with it.

Im holding off though untill were certain that indeed times can be improved using the wheel. I dont want a £80 FUN but disadvantage.

my brother got one for christmas and he got not 1 but *2*!! copyes of Project gotham raceing 3 with it , so i got 1 and were gonna attempt some LAN games with them

theres one thing that u should bare in mind about the wheel - it has no auto center, so theres no counter force, no springs to set the wheel back in to the middle - its lose. takes some time getting used to but my brother says its pritty good once u figger it out

(2 free games, now thats the kinda cockup i love)

After bagging a Tosh 27WL55 LCD for £250 second hand, I setup my 360 in the study, and so have the TV with the wheel desk mounted right in front of me..

At first I was a bit disappointed, the feedback wasn't right and I kept over correcting..

I then in a blinding flash of obviousness, plugged in the AC adapter it comes with.. And what a transformation, it now had full pukka force feedback, you can feel the grip the car has, and even bangs and knocks from the road surface.. This is better then my old MS FF PC Wheel...

Using the In-car view, or one of the forward views, the feeling is excellent, the 'feel' you have through the corners is superb, you can really feel when it understeers..

Ultimately, I don't know the effect it would have on individual lap times, mine are improving, and PGR3 is getting a new outing, I am much cleaner and smoother then ever.
The strength for me is the ability to gently let the steering 'out' as you exit the corner, whilst having more throttle control, so my corner exit speeds are improving.

I am sure it's horses for courses, I've always been a fan of steering wheels, as long as they are desk mounted..

I can't believe I hadn't plugged the AC adapter in before, You only need AA batteries to get it to work with the 360, and it has rumble effects, and I though that was it.. but anyone who hasn't plugged it in yet is missing out!.

I'd give it 8/10 with PGR3, this could go to a 9/10 if a game had more tweaking options such as steering sensitivity, and range adjustment.

i pretty much agree with Demon ^^

loving the wheel overall. although i have yet to beat any of my track times that i have set with the controller. i put this down to needing more practice and the fact i can never find the E brake when i need it lol

i had a few races online in pgr3 today and i came last in all but one of them :(

it gets rather frantic when your in the middle of a pack and everyone is jostling for position into the first corner....still brilliant fun though :)

buy one, you'll love it !

hi, i read one guys comments on a site (might of been Cnet) he stated that it took him 5 days of playing to actually get to a point he was within his best times.

He noted that the sensitivity of the Brake is the hardest thing to adjust to and unfortunately in PGR3 this sensitivity cant be adjusted. Its fair to assume though that Forza 2 will allow for a lot more adjusting to taste.

Please keep us informed guys if indeed with practice you get your times close to the pad times.

We bought one yesterday and it awesome! Its totally reinvigorated my love for PGR3. It does take some getting used to, but once you do you wont want to go back to a pad. My times are getting to around the same as the pad after about 6 hours useage but more importantly its so much more immersive. The nurburgring is stunning, feeiling the rumble strips through the wheel etc, and the arial atom really does feel like you are sat in the car.

Its made me go back through the game and try all the different cars again as you can really feel the differecne in the handling more. I'm finding it easier to take specific lines through corners, where making small corrections is easier with the larger travel of the wheel.

The only dissapointment so far is in test drive. As it doesnt support the force feedback yet its all a bit vague and uninvolving, but hopefully a patch will sort that out. Cant wait for Forza 2 now :) Heres a pic of our makeshift setup lol

Can anyone comment on the power of the force feedback?

Any review I've read says it's extremely underpowered and basically just rumbles, force feedback should have enough power to try and wrestle the wheel out of your control.

This is what put me off buying one.
